Wedding Gift Registry Ideas

This week I got to talk with the WGN TV  5pm anchor news, Lourdes Duarte about non-traditional wedding gift registry items. Tuesday we looked at charity gift registries, like Kate and William are doing for their Royal Wedding. Today we look at some of the other ideas that I spoke of and are great ideas for couples to consider when registering.

While I love all of these ideas, I think it is also a good idea for brides and grooms to have them as supplemental registries in addition to a traditional gift registry for items like china, flatware, crystal and kitchen appliances. That way, your guests have an option to purchase you what they are comfortable with and what fits in their individual budgets.

Foodie Registry

What a great concept for the food lover! Foodie Registry lets you register for gift certificates at your favorite restaurants. Your guests can go online and select which restaurant they want to send you to and the amount of the gift certificate. Nice perk? There is no cost to you or your guests. With over 65 restaurants in Chicago to chose from you can select elegant dinners or more casual locations.

Honeymoon Registry

Couples can now have the honeymoon of their dreams by registering for honeymoon items on a gift registry. From a candlelight dinner for two to a couples massage or an evening sunset sailing trip, you can customize your registry based on if you want a very active honeymoon or a more relaxing one. Guests can go online and pick items for you based on your registry and it can be sent directly to your account at your hotel or resort. With a handy tool to upload your registry to facebook or twitter, it makes it easy to let your guests know what you are hoping for. This registry is a great alternative to a traditional wedding registry.
