Wish Upon a Wedding granted the 50th wedding wish in Chicago last night. This was a big milestone for the newer nonprofit that provides wedding and vow renewals for couples facing terminal illness and serious life-altering circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation. I am the founding president of the Chicago Chapter for this organization and also sit on the national board as vice-president and it is near and dear to my heart. Ashley and Brian said their vows in front of fifty of their family members and close friends at the Chicago Marriott O'Hare. This was the second wish a Marriott property has hosted and we thank them for their continued support of the organization.
A staff sergeant of the Army National Guard, Brian served a nine month tour of Afghanistan in 2009, and returned with life altering physical and emotional injuries. Two years later, he met his soon-to-be-bride, Ashley, whose mother, grandfather, cousin and several friends all have served in different branches of the military. Their relationship bloomed over the next several months and casual dating quickly turned into love. The couple reached out to Wish Upon a Wedding and their wish of being married was granted; something that may not have otherwise been possible in their situation
The wedding wish could not take place without the kind donation of services by the amazing wedding professionals in Chicago who 100% donate their services and products. THANK you to those vendors!
