Things To Do On New Year's Eve in Chicago

New Years Eve is just around the corner. Have you made your plans yet? Take a break from your Chicago wedding planning and step out into our great city. Here are some great events and tips for some fun things to do in Chicago for your New Year's Eve!

The Drake Hotel New Year's Eve Celebration in the iconic Gold Coast Ballroom. This chicagoscene event has been voted the best New Year's Eve party in Chicago for 15 years. There is still general admission and VIP tickets available.

The Palmer House Hilton  also hosts a beautiful New Year's Eve Gala. The Shagadelics, The Breakfast Club band and DJ Anthony M will be entertaining the crowd and buffets and a full bar will be available all evening. The hotel still has rooms available for $169 a night so you don't have to worry about trying to get a cab when you want to head home. Make sure to get your reservation for brunch the next day at the yummy Lockwood Restaurant in the hotel.

Want something a bit more quiet with a nice dinner and conversation? Some of our favorite restaurants still have tables available. Bread and Wine, BarTucci, Gene & Georgetti and Nico Osteria to name a few.

Or perhaps you want to hit the outdoors? The Zoo Lights at the Lincoln Park Zoo is a fantastic spectacle and is open until 9pm. Or maybe hot cocoa and ice skating at the Millenium Park McCormick skating rink.

And there is always the relaxing option of staying in and celebrating at home watching the ball drop in New Your City in front of the fireplace and cooking a nice dinner.  Here are some great recipe ideas for your last meal of 2014.

You can begin your feastwith sausage stuff mushrooms, and a classic caviar plate with a great bottle of Veuve Cliquot. Then dinner can start with a wonderful pear and pomegranate salad and finish with  crown pork roast, roasted brussel sprouts, and au gratin potatoes. All paired with a beautiful Pinot Noir from one or my personal favorites, Hartford Family Vineyards. And you can order a lovely pie and pair it with some ice cream from Delightful Pastries!

If you are going out in Chicago, don't forget to make sure to have your Uber app on your phone so that you have a safe ride home from where you are going. But be careful as the fees the night of New Years Eve do go into premium rates. Uber posted a blog about tips for New Year's Eve with pricing. Want to pre-book your car service? I recommendM&M Limousine who can be reached at 847-257-2111. Make sure to tell them Ali Phillips sent you!
