Chicago wedding photographer and a good friend of mine, Kevin Weinstein, jetted down to Mexico this past weekend to photograph Courtney Mazza and Mario Lopez of Extra TV and The X Factor's wedding. Armed with lots of cameras and two assistants, he photographed the Friday and Saturday night celebration in Punta Mita, Mexico. Kevin was one of the first photographers in Chicago that I met with when I started my business over ten years ago and we have been working together since. He is one of the most kind, funny and creative photographers that I know. Kevin, we can't wait to see the pictures of the wedding! And make sure to watch the wedding, which will air on TLC Network on Saturday, December 8th at 7pm. See all the details here!
Wish Upon a Wedding granted the 50th wedding wish in Chicago last night. This was a big milestone for the newer nonprofit that provides wedding and vow renewals for couples facing terminal illness and serious life-altering circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation. I am the founding president of the Chicago Chapter for this organization and also sit on the national board as vice-president and it is near and dear to my heart. Ashley and Brian said their vows in front of fifty of their family members and close friends at the Chicago Marriott O'Hare. This was the second wish a Marriott property has hosted and we thank them for their continued support of the organization.
LOVING Calla Lilly bouquets lately! Calla lilies represent elegance, charm, beauty and grace and are perfect for a bride to carry on her wedding day. Today we are featuring the gorgeous calla bouquet of a wedding we did in the winter. We accented the bouquet with lilly grass to give it some height and structure.
It's Wednesday and I am bringing you a bouquet to enjoy today on Bouquet Wednesday! Today we see big full bouquets of pink peonies. Peonies are available in the springtime and early summer and are my FAVORITE flower! I LOVE the look of the pink with the bridesmaids dresses. Gorgeous and dreamy and smell so wonderful! Perfect for yourself or your bridesmaids if you are getting married in May or June when they are in season.
Ah it is April, that time of year where in Chicago and all across the Midwest we see crocuses, daffodils and tulips blooming. The leaves are beginning to come out and spring is in the air. What do all those pretty things need to be able to bloom? Sunshine and well, rain. But don't let rain spoil your wedding day. Tradition says it is good luck to rain on your wedding day. The old folklore says that it is a belief is that a wet knot is harder to untie (thus the term "ting the knot"). If showers are forecasted on your wedding day, don't let it get you down. Embrace the rain with umbrellas and boots for your wedding look.
I was SO excited when Blair and Christy called me from Junebug Weddings to tell me I had been selected to be a part of their World's Best Wedding Planners & Designers they unveiled last week and I am so thankful to be included. The best of the best are on this list and I am flattered to be a part of it.
I just love Monique Lhuillier's wedding dresses. So much that one of these days I am going to make my husband marry me again so I can wear one of Monique's dresses. She is such an elegant lady and it shows in her always gorgeous wedding dresses that she produces. I had the pleasure of meeting her at the Engage Conference back in June where she spoke to the audience. Her designs are feminine, elegant, often times fun and always dramatic.
et took place the last couple of days in New York City. This is when the wedding dress designers get to show their new lines for all of us to see. Last year I got to attend the Bridal Market in New York City for the first time and attend the Martha Steward show. So, I was so excited to go back again this year.
My friends, Stevi and Matt Savage started a wonderful new nonprofit called Photo Serve. It is a wonderful organziation bringing together photographers who willingly will volunteer for those in need. They will be traveling to Casas Por Cristos in Acuna, Mexico in September with guest mentor, Mike Colon, and will be building a home for a family in great need. I am so proud of my friends for getting together and starting an organization that shows how we can give back. And what a great way for photographers to document people helping people but also to be able to network and learn from each other.
Just a quick "shout out" to my husband Jon thanking him for six wonderful years of marriage today!!!!
We are thrilled to recommend Ali to anyone who is looking for a wedding coordinator! Ali was absolutely great to work with and she struck the perfect balance between professionalism and humor. She is extremely organized and diligent in her follow-up and provided us with a much needed sense of direction throughout the process.
