Getting married in the Caribbean does not get any better than at a location like the Viceroy Anguila! Just a two and a half hour flight from Miami to St Martin and then a quick boat ride, Viceroy Anguila is one of the most magical places I have seen to host a wedding. Whether you want to get married with the sand between your toes at their two beaches or in front of the gorgeous infinity sunset pool overlooking the ocean, Viceroy Anguilla is a one of the kind spot for your destination wedding.
Last week we talked about the gorgeous Martha Stewart weddings at Sandals and Beaches resorts you can now have. Today we are looking at one of their gorgeous themes, Beautiful Beginnings. This is for an intimate celebration for just the two of you and includes a gorgeous magenta dendrobium orchid bridal bouquet, a nice boutonniere for your groom, a lovely reception setting with crisp white linens and a two tier white wedding cake.
If you have been following the blog for some time you know that I attend many wedding and event industry conferences to continue learning about new trends but also to learn about good business practices and how to run a successful wedding planning business. On Sunday, I leave for Grand Cayman at the Ritz Carlton to attend the Engage!10 Luxury Wedding Business Summit. This year I am so excited as I have been asked to present with three of my good friends I have made over the years (Liene Stevens of Think Splendid, Harmony Walton of The Bridal Bar and Donna Von Bruening of DVB Photographers). We will be doing a session on "getting the most of Engage!"
I am off to San Francisco, California this weekend to attend Wedding 360, The Academy for Planners and Designers conference at the St Regis Hotel. Created for wedding planners, weddings designers and floral designers, The Academy will provide in-depth and how to classes taught by the masters in the business. I am so excited to see old friends (and meet some new friends) and learn from some of the best in the industry including Rebecca Grinnals, Sean Low, David Beahm, Todd Fiscus and Tara Guerard. I am also looking forward to experiencing the Four Seasons San Francisco property where the classes will be held on Monday. In looking at the agenda it looks like there are some wonderful parties planned for the attendees. I am excited to see the new trends for weddings and to come home and share them with my brides and grooms.

If you are in Chicago, you woke up to a cold and dreary day today. I just got back from a walk with the dog and it is COLD! SO.....I thought I would channel some warm summer vibes by posting these adorable pictures of Kevin and Janie who got married at the Ritz Carlton in Grand Cayman. They zipped around the Island the day after the wedding to play in the sand and run thru the crystal clear blue water in the ocean. What a fun couple!

We knew of Ali's work a few years prior to our wedding through a friend that got married in Chicago. She was very highly recommended and we could understand why when we met with Ali. Ali is very personable and is extremely well thought of in the industry and with vendors. After meeting her for the first time, John and I were sure she would help us create a perfect party to celebrate our wedding.
A good friend of mine and wonderful photographer Dennis Lee is having a day for doggies and caring.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Please travel safe and sound as you head out to see your families.
We can't say enough about how glad we are that we chose Ali to help us with our special day! With both of us being attorneys in Washington, D.C., Ali made the planning process so easy by setting up full day schedules for the weekends we were in town and dealing with the vendors for us when we couldn't be there in person. It saved us so much time by having everything so organized ahead of time. Ali also served as a friend to us throughout the whole process, helping us figure out complicated family issues and keeping us sane in the days leading up to the wedding. Our wedding was everything we dreamed of, and that was largely due to Ali and her great ideas and support. She even helped us book our honeymoon and made sure that was great too. I don't know what we would have done without her!
I really thought that I had the whole "wedding thing" figured out, and whatever wedding coordinator I hired was going to have it pretty easy. Well, from the moment I hired Ali, she was thinking of things that didn't even occur to me, and making sure they were covered. On the day of our wedding, I could see that even a perfectly planned event will have a few wildcards to manage. If it hadn't been for Ali's awesome ability to manage people, challenges and time, I believe our wedding would have imploded! Instead, the day unfolded perfectly, everyone was informed and had what they needed and I was able to enjoy my guests and my new husband. A wedding is a big investment, and I'm so thankful I hired Ali to protect it!
Hiring a planner is a great investment--especially Ali. She will keep you on track every step of the way. For me, I wanted a planner that would primarily control the logistics but also support me with design ideas. Besides her organizational skills, she understands proper etiquette, is very detail minded and she has a good sense of style--especially the style of wedding you desire--and she will help you achieve it.
