The Knot.com invited Chicago wedding industry consultants and professionals to gather together on Wednesday night at the cool event location, Salvage One, to celebrate. I have not done an event at Salvage One, but what a unique location to host a corporate event or a wedding. It is a two floor raw and lofty space with an outdoor garden that could be used for cocktails or even a ceremony. Located in West Town, parking should be easy for your guests on the night of your event. Not to worry though at this event, VIP Valet was a sponsor at the event and quickly whisked my car away. The ladies at Big City Bride and Botanicals Chicago really did a great job creating a fun and gorgeous event for industry professionals. We sampled great food from Berghoff Catering, danced to the tunes spun by Delta Disc Jockeys, and visited the fun photo booth by Shutterbooth.
We knew of Ali's work a few years prior to our wedding through a friend that got married in Chicago. She was very highly recommended and we could understand why when we met with Ali. Ali is very personable and is extremely well thought of in the industry and with vendors. After meeting her for the first time, John and I were sure she would help us create a perfect party to celebrate our wedding.
Becky Hill (one of my favorite photographers in Chicago) posted some pictures of a wedding we recently did together on May 10th, 2009. The ceremony was at Holy Family in Chicago followed by a "rocking" reception at Maggiano's which was DJ'ed by the 'oh so fabulous' DJ Toad.

Here’s some advice from a groom – hire Ali. When Chaoran brought up the idea of using a wedding planner my first reaction was “why pay someone to do that?”. Well the answer is we could not have done it without her, deciding to work with Ali was easily the best decision we made. She was able to free up our time while still giving us complete control over our wedding. From the beginning she listened to what we wanted, handled the vendors and guided us through the whole planning process. Ali took care of all the details and worked with us to create a wonderful ceremony and reception. If you want to have a perfect wedding then the place to start is with a phone call to Ali.
Mary and Pat McGeever's wedding was on the perfect fall day in October. The ceremony took place at four o'clock in the afternoon at Holy Name Cathedral.
Cocktails, dinner and dancing followed in the Gold Coast Room at The Drake Hotel.

No wedding would be complete without food.
h2. Food Clients are being more creative in their food choices for their fall wedding celebrations. Instead of the traditional salad course before the entrée, we’re now seeing flavorful pumpkin and squash soups alongside a small salad topped with dried cherries and nuts. Terrines carrying mesclun greens and poached pears are also making their way to the dining tables. And, a few couples are serving hot apple cider, with rum for those over 21, during the cocktail hour or after dinner. Gone is the day of the bland, white wedding cake. Couples are using different flavors like carrot cake and cheesecake for their weddings. I’ve also seen more requests for chocolate wedding cakes served with crème anglaise or a berry coulis. One of my fall couples is serving hot apple pie a la mode instead of the traditional wedding cake. Yummmmm. Couples are really expressing themselves with their choice of favors. Some are setting up caramel apple stations so guests can dip their apples and roll them in a bowl of crushed nuts or different types of candies. Brides are giving away jellies, maple syrup and even family recipes of their favorite dishes. We loved working with Ali! My Husband and I agreed that she was worth every penny! We both have very busy schedules and she made our whole planning experience a breeze. She scheduled (and recommended) all of our vendor appointments, sent monthly/weekly updated "to do" lists, offered unique suggestions and kept us on track to avoid potential disaster and stress. Hiring her was definitely the best decision we made overall!
Leslie and Tyson Cornell's wedding was a windy and warm summer day at the Harold Washington Library in Chicago. The library looked beautiful as the sun set and the twinkle on the 400 votives lit around the library started to shimmer. Leslie loved pink and orange flowers and even picked out a pink wedding cake. The guests dined on filet mignon andrelaxed to a flamenco guitar during dinner. They later rocked the night away to the tunes of the Jeff Stitely Orchestra!
