The Newberry Library Wedding in Downtown Chicago

Christine and Richard

This Newberry Library wedding is one of the most unique weddings I’ve planned. Christine and Richard wanted the day to feel laid back yet fun - a perfect construct for a venue such as the Newberry library.

The ceremony took place outside at the gorgeous park across from the library. Christine really wanted the natural, organic feel to her wedding flowers and design; so, we decided to bring nature into the library for the reception to continue with our outdoor theme. The venue burst with elegance and colors of whites, green, pinks, and yellows, and wood paneling already established by the venue. Mixing elements of nature and history reflected as the perfect setting for the couple.

Both Christine and Richard and their families love food and varieties of it! Having an assortment of food stations was important to everyone. They requested a stationed meal so all guests could experience an array of foods from different nationalities.

The night ended with displays of happiness for the bride and groom (and maybe all the amazing food).

Planner's Favorite Details from Ali

I loved that Christine and Richard wanted to use the backdrop of the Chicago EL for many of their wedding party photos!

A note from Christine and Richard:

The wedding was absolutely wonderful. It exceeded all of our expectations. Great food. Amazing band. Our friends (and my parents!) danced until 12. People have been complimenting us on our wedding planning skills, but obviously it was all you! Thank you so much!
