Camp Wedding Retreat at Camp Wandewega

In September, I was honored to be asked to speak by Sarah and Andrea from Cherry Berry Events at Camp Wedding at the Camp Wandewega, located in Wisconsin. This was their inaugural wedding retreat and I was looking forward to meeting some new friends in the wedding industry. I attend a couple of event conferences a year and I was intrigued by the concept of Camp Wedding, with wedding professionals being in a camp environment.

I headed up to Wisconsin on Monday morning and was immediately endeared and in love with Camp Wandewega. And just like arriving at camp, we were greeted by our “camp counselors” Sarah and Andrea with a fun back pack, a trail mix bar and escorted to our cabin where we would be spending a couple of days at the lake.

Under a Sperry tent in a field, I was delighted to meet new wedding professionals and network with others about their experiences in the event industry. I also loved speaking to the group about my background and career the destination event market and share my experiences with those attending.

Some of the best education at Camp Wedding was in personal conversations taken place out of the Sperry tent and on the lake in a canoe, at the campfire over s’mores or competing in an archery competition in the field. The camaraderie and fellowship was so wonderful and by the end of the three days it felt like hugging friends goodbye at the end of summer camp. I always enjoy meeting new people in the wedding industry and formed new bonds with some incredible and talented men and women in the wedding industry. I also look forward to working with them in future. Some of my best wedding partners I work with on my client’s weddings are people that I have met at conferences such as Camp Wedding.

I look forward to hearing the 2016 dates from Sarah and Adrea and going back to Camp Wedding!

Special thanks goes out to Lexia Frank for the most gorgeous photos and headshot of everyone at Camp Wed.
