In case you missed it, last Wednesday we held our third annual Midwest Wedding & Event Professionals Charity Golf Outing. What first looked like might be a dreary day actually turned out to be a lovely fall afternoon filled with some good golf, great food, and lots of laughter as wedding and event professionals came together for a good cause. Keith Jorgensen of Poetic Productions and Kurt Gerber of Gerber Scarpelli Weddings co-planned this event with me and they did an amazing job!
Each year we choose a new charity to benefit and this year we selected Wish Upon a Wedding. They are the world's first nonprofit wish granting organization providing weddings and vow renewals for couples facing terminal illness and serious life altering circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation.
The event was held at Crane’s Landing Golf Course at the Marriott Resort in Lincolnshire, Illinois. They sent everyone home with a jar of their honey, produced on site from their own beehives
The teams played a Best Ball where everyone uses the best shot on each hole so it was a fun time even for beginning golfers. Later in the evening we had a BBQ dinner with some awesome music by the MFO Entertainment. We raffled off prizes including a one night stay and breakfast in bed for two from the Marriott. And after all of the great outfits we had, we are even thinking we might need to add a best dressed prize to the list for next year (here is Jon Phillips, this year’s unofficial winner).
Thanks again to our sponsors: Poetic Weddings, Gerber and Scarpelli Weddings, MFO Entertainment, CS Brides, VIP Valet, Classic Party Rental, Glen Abog and Greatest Expectations. And also a big thank you to everyone that came out to support such a great cause! Be sure to be on the lookout for next’s years golf outing in August 2012.
