I was so excited to get asked to be on the WGN TV Channel 9 news at 5pm last night. Lourdes Duarte and I got to speak about less traditional wedding registry items.
2010 A Look Back In Pictures
The New York Times does it, Time Magazine does it and this year, Engaging Events by Ali does it. Yup, a look back in pictures at the year 2010. The below photo montage looks at highlights of the amazing year that 2010 was. I was able to meet new people, see old friends, make new friends and got to travel speaking at wonderful conferences in amazing locations. It was a great year and thank you too all my friends, vendors, brides and grooms, pilots who got me there safely, cab drivers who got me there safely (this one was questionable at Bridal Market in NYC-cabs in NYC are just scary), and all the hotel employees who took care of me when I was traveling away from home. I especially want to thank my husband for holding down the fort when I was gone.
Wedding Processionals: Who Walks with Who Down the Aisle
A question I get asked a lot as a wedding consultant is what should the order of the processional be? It is a great idea to think about this in advance of your wedding rehearsal. While rehearsals are for that, rehearsing, it is important to have a plan in place before you arrive to your rehearsal. I go thru a worksheet with my clients so I know who is paired up with who so I know the order the bride and groom want when we are practicing.
Wish Upon a Wedding New Mission
Six-month old nonprofit organization Wish Upon a Wedding announced last week that it will broaden its scope of services, in order to assist more couples in need. Although its primary focus continues to provide weddings for terminally ill individuals regardless of sexual orientation, the organization will soon help those faced with other personal burdens, such as serious emotional, physical or other debilitating issues.

Ali Phillips Speaks at Purdue University About Wedding Planning in Chicago
Last week my assistant, Kristin Weis, and I traveled to her hometown and alma mater, West Lafayette, Indiana to Purdue University. I was asked to present at the Purdue Event Planning Society which is an organization that students started two years ago. There were fifty people in attendance and I had a great time sharing stories about Engaging Events weddings, my background and how to succeed in the event planning world.

Happy 4th of July!! This is one of my favorite times of the year. I will probably spend it out on the lake with good friends, good food and a good bottle of wine. Ali Phillips Presents at Weddings with Wow in Indianapolis
On Wednesday, January 20th, I was asked to be the speaker for ISES/ABC Weddings with Wow Luncheon in Indianapolis. I felt so welcomed by my host, Lee Johnson of Chair Covers. Inc. The luncheon was so gorgeous I really did say "WOW!" when I walked into the room. Different designers and florists designed tabletops which were so impressive. I did a presentation on the Top Weddings Trends for 2009, supported by many pictures of past events I have done. It was a lively discussion and people had some great questions following my presentation. Below are some pictures from that event. I have to remember next time to have someone snap a picture of me when I am presenting.

After graduating from Purdue University in Lafayette, IN, Jaclyn moved to Chicago. Jaclyn joined the Engaging Events by Ali, Inc. team and was Ali’s “right hand executive assistant”, from May to September. She currently works in Convention Services at The Fairmont Hotel. She has made herself available to assist Ali with weddings almost every weekend.
